The Colorado Singles Resource Guide is the first magazine of its kind that celebrates the single life. We are unique in that we provide quality resources for singles that are up-to-date and comprehensive in a printed publication and in conjunction on the web. We are confident that the timely, updated and comprehensive resource will give our printed publication a long shelf life and a dominant presence on the web because of the digital issue as well. There is no question that the single population is exploding. According to the U.S. Census Bureau between 1990 and 2000, the number of non-family households (where people who are not family members live together or a person lives along) was at twice the rate of households of immediate or extended families. Singles constitute more than 40 percent of the adult population. And this segment is virtually being ignored as a target market. The potential is phenomenal in this forgotten segment. The population in Colorado over the age of 20 is 3,456,230. Of those, 42% are singles at a population of 1,464821. There are over 290,000 singles in Denver/Boulder Counties alone. In addition, the median household income in Colorado is 2005 was $60,652. The median value of homes was $223,300, ranking Colorado 13th in the nation for both median household income and home values. It is also of interest that 35% of all Colorado residents have a bachelor degree or higher-ranking Colorado 3rd in the nation. As Singlocity, Inc. grows, surveys will be given and data will be gathered on the demographics of its readers. We are targeting singles years 35 and older who have a median income of over $60,000 who are home/condo owners. People living a single life are presented with many of the day-to-day challenges as any other person may face, with a few exceptions. Singles are responsible for making all of their own decisions ultimately and also handling all of their own tasks. There can be pros and cons to these situations for a single person but it is a dilemma when there is a solo person. Singles live without many of the safety nets coupling people have-either emotionally, physically or financially just to name a few. Singles usually have to pay more because there are one person and many people ignore singles as a target market. However, this doesn’t stop singles in being tenacious and hard working in their endeavor to live a balanced live. Further, some singles prefer to remain singles while others are actively seeking the perfect companion. When you look at the bottom line, everyone at some point in time in their life was, remains or will become single. The other factor is that singles are very transient in the way that they are in and out of relationships, jobs and housing situations. There will always be single people who will need resources as they find themselves becoming or still remaining single. Editorial Focus Our magazine and website want to provide information on subjects that are not being addressed in the everyday life for singles. We want to make the content interesting and informative. We want to provide opportunities for singles to broaden their life through seeking out events to go to, non-profit opportunities or answers to questions that are usually left unanswered in the normal stream of media. We cover sex and intimacy, legal issues, event calendars, travel, non-profit venues, and more. We explore ideas about single parenting, finding a date, what are the rules of dating and many more topics. In addition, we always include the updated, comprehensive resource for singles so they can refer to this when and if they are in need of any of these services. Editorial Calendar Winter 2008 will highlight New Years Eve, 2008
resolutions and goals, and winter/ski adventures and travel.
